Notary Appointment Policy

Thank you for choosing Double Edged Notary Services. My goal is to provide professional, reliable, and convenient notarial services while respecting the time of every client. The following policies help ensure appointments run smoothly and comply with New Mexico notary laws.

Scheduling an Appointment

Appointments are available by advance scheduling. Same-day and emergency appointments may be available depending on availability.

Appointments are considered confirmed only after:

  • Your appointment request has been accepted.

  • Any applicable travel or service fees have been disclosed.

  • You have agreed to the quoted fees.

Appointment Preparation

To avoid delays, please have the following ready before your appointment:

  • A completed document (unless instructed otherwise by the receiving agency)

  • A valid government-issued photo ID

  • All signers present

  • Any required witnesses (unless witness services have been arranged in advance)

  • Payment method

Please do not sign the document before your appointment unless the document specifically instructs you to do so.

Identification Requirements

All signers must present satisfactory identification as required by New Mexico law.

Examples of acceptable identification include:

  • Driver's License

  • State Identification Card

  • U.S. Passport or Passport Card

  • Military Identification

  • Permanent Resident Card

  • Tribal Identification

  • Other government-issued identification permitted by New Mexico law

If satisfactory identification cannot be provided, the notarization cannot be completed.

Travel & Mobile Appointments

Travel fees are separate from New Mexico's statutory notarial fees.

Travel fees will always be disclosed and agreed upon before travel begins.

Travel fees compensate for travel time and expenses and are earned once travel has begun, even if the notarization cannot ultimately be completed.

Remote Online Notarization (RON)

Remote Online Notarization appointments require:

  • Identity verification through the approved platform

  • A working internet connection

  • Camera and microphone access

  • A compatible computer, tablet, or smartphone

If identity verification cannot be completed or technical issues prevent completion of the notarization, the appointment may need to be rescheduled.

Payment Policy

Payment is due at the completion of the appointment unless other arrangements have been made in advance.

Accepted forms of payment include:

  • Credit or debit cards

  • Cash

  • Venmo

  • Apple Pay

  • Money Order

Returned payments or chargebacks may be subject to additional fees permitted by law.

Cancellation Policy

Appointments canceled more than 2 hours before the scheduled appointment may be canceled without charge.

Appointments canceled within 2 hours of the scheduled appointment may be subject to a cancellation fee.

For mobile appointments, once travel has begun, the previously agreed travel fee remains due.

For Remote Online Notary appointments, no cancellation fee will normally be charged unless administrative work has already been completed or third-party platform costs have been incurred.

Late Arrivals & Waiting Time

Please notify me as soon as possible if you are running late.

Appointments include up to 15 minutes of waiting after the scheduled appointment time.

Additional waiting time may be billed at $15 per additional 15-minute interval, subject to availability.

If a signer cannot be reached within 15 minutes of the scheduled appointment time, the appointment may be considered a no-show.

No-Show Policy

A no-show occurs when:

  • The signer fails to appear for the scheduled appointment.

  • The signer cannot be contacted.

  • The signer is unavailable after the 15-minute waiting period.

For mobile appointments, the agreed travel fee remains due.

Incomplete or Unsuccessful Appointments

A notarization cannot be completed if:

  • Acceptable identification is not presented.

  • The document is incomplete when required information should already be filled in.

  • The signer is unwilling to sign.

  • The signer does not appear to understand the document or transaction.

  • The signer appears to be acting under duress.

  • The signer is unable to communicate directly with the notary.

  • Another legal requirement for notarization has not been satisfied.

When no notarization is completed, the statutory notarial fee will not be charged. However, agreed travel fees and any completed administrative services (such as printing or scanning) remain payable.

Printing & Document Services

Printing, scanning, shipping, and other requested document services are separate services from the notarization itself.

Once completed, these services are non-refundable.

Refusal of Service

As required by New Mexico law, I reserve the right to refuse any notarization that cannot legally or ethically be completed.

Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Unsatisfactory identification

  • Incomplete documents

  • Suspected fraud

  • Lack of willingness or awareness

  • Requests for legal advice

  • Requests prohibited by New Mexico law

Privacy & Confidentiality

Client information is handled with professionalism and confidentiality.

Remote Online Notarizations include an electronic journal and audio-video recording as required by New Mexico law. These records are maintained using approved secure technology for the required retention period.
